Megan Cinel is a Toronto based Set Designer and Scenic Painter. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Megan’s true roots are in the North. She graduated high school from St. Mary’s High school in Woodstock, Ontario earning the Performing Arts Award and graduating with a High Skills Major in Art. Megan excelled in art class throughout her 4 years of secondary school and found herself helping paint backdrops for the school’s musicals after class. It was because of this she realized she wanted to pursue a career in Theatre. Megan was accepted to Toronto Metropolitan University’s Performance Production program where she continued to hone her scenic painting and set design skills until graduating with Honors in 2017 and earning her BFA. Her work in theatre started at Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover, Ontario, as an assistant technician during her summers between her university years. Her returning summers had her under the title of Head of Paint, and now she returns for their summer seasons as a Set Designer. Megan is also a freelance scenic painter in Toronto and a full Scenic Paint Member for IATSE Local 873 and 828, as well as a full member of IATSE Local ADC659.
